The Auburn Police Department has shed new light on an active investigation, which resulted from a stabbing on Grant Avenue over the weekend.
On Sunday officers responded to a reported fight near 169 Grant Avenue. One victim was discovered, according to police. That person had suffered a stab wound to the left bicep, as well as a laceration to the head.
Prior to emergency personnel arriving – good Samaritans assisted. The victim was ultimately transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. That victim was released at a later time.
Noah Oakes, 20, of Auburn was detained and charged on Monday in connection with the fight, which law enforcement labeled a stabbing. Witnesses were interviewed, according to a press release from the Auburn Police Department.
Oakes was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Police say the suspect also has previous conviction status, which elected the weapons charge.
Police also detailed the arrest of Oakes’ girlfriend, 22-year-old Stephanie Ann Weaver, of Auburn. They say she had been walking with Oakes on Grant Avenue and witnessed the incident. She later provided a statement at the Auburn police station, and for her involvement in the incident – was charged with criminal mischief, harassment, and disorderly conduct.
The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to call (315) 258-9880.
