Maggie Newton had never scored a game-winning goal, until Tuesday night.
With 2.1 seconds left in a rematch of last year’s Class D sectional final, the Skaneateles sophomore found the back of the net, avenging last year’s loss to South Jefferson with an 11-10 win at SUNY Cortland.
Lakers junior Grace Dower had possession of the ball and ran into a triple team, but not before she made eye-contact with Newton, who received her pass to score.
