The Town of Skaneateles is looking for a solution to the harmful algae blooms that seem to turn up in the Finger Lakes every year.
The town just got a grant from the Onondaga County Development Corporation for more than $100,000 to start collecting data and water samples from the lake.
The hope is the state will pay back this grant.
Two years ago, the toxic blue-green algae bloom was found on Skaneateles Lake. Then, more algae popped up on the lake last August, but there wasn't enough to be considered toxic to neighbors or the water supply.
