Employers prepare for possible changes as Albany lawmakers mull marijuana vote

At Pittsford Paving, using heavy machinery safely helps get the job done.

“We drive heavy vehicles and heavy equipment,” said owner Gustavo Kusminsky. “It’s important they’re clear-minded, of course.”

Kusminsky says he doesn’t drug test his employees, adding the DOT already periodically tests his truck drivers.

However, Kusminsky says he does keep an eye on his workers’ behavior.

“We monitor our employees to see if they’re acting right.”

He says he’d consider starting to drug test his employees, if he suspected they were using marijuana on the job.

“We’re always willing to do things if necessary, if it seemed like a problem, then we would.”
