Newark man accused of punching, kicking girlfriend during dispute

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Newark man following a domestic disturbance in the Town of Lyons.

Deputies arrested Mark A. Ortiz Jr., 18, of Newark for harassment and obstructing governmental administration.

The arrest stems from the investigation of a domestic complaint that occurred on Phelps Street in Lyons. It’s alleged that during a dispute with his girlfriend, Ortiz began to punch and kick her multiple times in the chest and face.

While deputies were on-scene investigating – Ortiz became belligerent and combative with them while being taken into custody.

He was held at the Wayne County Jail and will answer the charges at a later date.
