Golf course owners and operators across New York worry a new tax proposal would mean putting away their clubs and parking their carts for good.
The bill proposed by lawmakers downstate would allow cities and town to hike up property taxes based on an assessment of the property’s highest and best use rather than its current use.
It would impact golf courses which usually can argue for a lower assessment when the properties aren’t developed with homes.
