Penn Yan man charged with felony arson, reckless endangerment after shots fired report

The Penn Yan Police Department reports the arrest of a 27-year-old resident on multiple charges after an incident during the early-morning hours in the village.

Police were called to Vineland Apartments shortly after midnight for the report of shots fire, according to a press release.

They say Damon Walker, 27, of Penn Yan discharged a 12-gauge handheld flare gun inside of the apartment. Police say several items caught fire as result.

Walker was charged with a felony count of arson, as well as a felony count of reckless endangerment, and misdemeanor possession.

Police say he’s being held at the Yates County Jail.
