With the invariable losses of points and sets, perfection simply doesn’t happen in tennis. But the Ithaca boys team came awfully close this spring.
The Little Red closed out the team portion of its season Thursday night with a dominant performance at the Section 4 Class A championships at its home courts, taking titles in singles and doubles competition.
That came three days after Ithaca rolled to a 7-0 win over Vestal in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference tournament championship finals. That was the same score as Ithaca’s semifinal victory against Chenango Forks on May 4.
The regular season featured a 15-0 record in dual meets for the Little Red. Among the wins were victories over Section 5 opponents Pittsford-Mendon and Pittsford-Sutherland.
