The price tag for the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport shrank significantly on Thursday as U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer announced the awarding of federal funding for the expansion project.
Schumer, who visited the airport in February to call for the funding, announced Thursday that the airport's expansion project had received $9,999,990 in U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration funds.
“These federal funds will go a long way to create a world-class facility right here in Tompkins County that will encourage continued growth,” said Schumer, D-N.Y.. “I was proud of the role I played in securing this federal funding and will keep fighting to ensure this long-sought project stays on the runway to success. With a new and improved facility, the sky is the limit for Ithaca Tompkins Regional.”
