The city has been urging residents and business owners to weigh in on draft designs for the Downtown Streetscape and Routes 5&20 corridor reconfiguration projects, with the idea that modifications may be made before they go out to bid later this year.
They have done just that, but the city wants to hear more.
At a special City Council meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, another project overview is planned. It includes presenting an alternative design for the East Castle Street portion of the streetscape project, which has drawn objections. The city said there will be time for feedback.
Sage Gerling said the meeting was scheduled in response to a Council request.
“City Council members requested to meet with Barton & Loguidice (the project architects and engineers) to review the schematic designs, as we may have changes that impact” the city’s vehicle and traffic code, she said.
“We appreciate all of the community feedback on the DRI streetscape project. The proposal for one-way on East Castle has brought mixed reviews. Barton & Loguidice will be bringing forward an alternative for East Castle for consideration and feedback at the meeting on Tuesday.”
To accommodate a potentially large crowd — an April 9 meeting at the Geneva Housing Authority was standing-room-only — the session will be held at the Sons of Italy, 31 Prospect Ave.
