The Ontario County Board of Ethics has issued an advisory opinion that county Director of Sustainability and Solid Waste Management Carla Jordan does not have a conflict of interest.
After questions were raised, Supervisor Kristine Singer, R-Canadice, chairwoman of the Board of Supervisors Planning & Environmental Quality Committee, asked the Board of Ethics to look into Jordan’s prior employment as a regional engineer for Casella Waste Services, operator of the county landfill, and her husband’s work as an engineer for Barton & Loguidice Engineers of Liverpool, which has done work for Casella related to the landfill.
Singer announced at the committee’s April 29 meeting that the board determined there was no conflict.
County Attorney Holly Adams said requests made to the Board of Ethics and its advisory decisions are confidential, but Singer chose to make them public.
