Saturday’s win was a long time coming for the Twins, even though it’s just early May. For the first time since June 26, 2016, they won a game at Yankee Stadium, defeating the Yankees, 7-3. Minnesota entered Saturday having lost nine straight games in the Bronx including the postseason, and 14 of 15 dating to the start of 2015.
Manager Rocco Baldelli said before the series that he wasn’t even aware of the Twins’ recent issues at Yankee Stadium.
“I wasn’t even thinking about it,” he said before Friday night’s game, “and truthfully, I’d probably like to keep it that way.”
