An Auburn man was charged Thursday after allegedly attacking his girlfriend with a coat rack and choking her, the Auburn Police Department said.
Auburn Deputy Police Chief Roger Anthony said Thomas A. Dobson, 24, of 42 South St., Apt. 20, attacked his girlfriend at his apartment around 11 p.m. Dobson cut the 57-year-old woman's face and forehead several times with a coat rack, causing bleeding and swelling, Anthony said, and hit her several times with a door. At one point, he used his left hand to choke her, Anthony said. Anthony said Dobson also tried to take the woman's cell phone so she couldn't call 911 and in the struggle, cracked the phone's screen and disabled it.
