deGrom sharp but no support from Mets in 1-0 loss to Reds

The Reds couldn’t hit Jake deGrom but were able to get to Mets closer Edwin Diaz for the second time in three games. This time, it was Jose Iglesias who did the damage. His homer in the ninth inning helped Cincinnati edge the Mets, 1-0.

There was no score in the ninth inning when Iglesias took a 1-1 pitch from Diaz and hit the ball over the left-field wall to give the Reds the lead.

It marked the second time in the four-game series that Diaz allowed the game-winning homer in the ninth inning. On Monday, Jesse Winker’s homer helped the Reds beat the Mets, 5-4.
