Deputies: Varick crash results in DWI charge for Romulus resident

The Seneca County Sheriff’s office reports that they responded to a one-car personal injury crash on East Lake Road in the Town of Varick.

The crash happened on Tuesday around 12:00 p.m., according to deputies.

They report that David B. Cook, 68, of Romulus swerved to miss a deer; and went into a nearby ditch.

However, upon further investigation it was determined that Cook was driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and issued a citation for failure to keep right.

Cook was transported to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

The DWI charge will be answered in Varick Town Court at a later date.
