WEEKLY OUTLOOK: Rollercoaster weather pattern continues in Finger Lakes

The National Weather Service and local forecasters agree that this week is going to be an active one.

Clear skies will become cloudy as we move toward evening; and by nightfall – there will be a moderate risk of rain. Steadier rainfall is expected during the late-evening, and overnight hours – but that should wrap-up before daybreak.

Throughout the week – temperatures will move from 5-10 degree below average, to 5-10 degrees above those seasonal averages. There will also be a near-daily chance of rainfall – with showers and thunderstorms developing by week’s end as temperatures push into the 60s.

Tuesday: A chance of showers, mainly before 9am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. West wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: A chance of showers, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. North wind around 6 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely before noon, then a chance of showers between noon and 5pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 66. Southeast wind 9 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night: Occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 47. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday: Showers likely, mainly before 7am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
