Barricaded subject arrested at West Village Apartment Complex

The Ithaca Police Department have issued a press release regarding Thursday’s police operation in West Hill.

According to the release, the police responded to the West Village apartment complex around 12:48 p.m on April 11, regarding a subject with a handgun.

“Once officers arrived at the scene, they established a perimeter around the apartment in which the suspect was known to be in,” the release said. “The suspect refused to speak with officers and refused to leave the apartment.”

The Ithaca SWAT and CINT (Critical Incident Negotiation Team) were activated and responded to the scene as well. Around 2:50 p.m., the suspect exited the apartment under police direction and surrendered without further incident.

Later on, the suspect was identified as Jalin Boutwell. Boutwell was transported to the Ithaca Police Department HQ for processing. Boutwell is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, which is a Class E Felony.
