Geneva man charged with attempted rape in Canandaigua

On April 5th at approximately 6:25 p.m. the Canandaigua Police Department arrested a 27-year-old Geneva resident on attempted rape charges.

Joshua M. Lee, 27, of Geneva was charged with attempted rape in the second degree.

It’s alleged that the defendant used social media in an attempt to lure what he thought was a 14-year-old female into having sexual intercourse.

The 14-year-old female was in fact an undercover detective with the City of Canandaigua Police Department.

Lee came to the City of Canandaigua with the intent of having sexual intercourse with that 14-year-old female, and was taken into custody by police.

Police say Lee is being held at the Ontario County Jail.
