5 storylines for the 2019 Section V boys lacrosse season

The boys lacrosse season is already underway with a few teams securing impressive victories as a new wave of talent takes over.

One of the themes of last season was experienced stars; 15 of 16 spots on the All-Greater Rochester first team went to seniors, many of whom were All-Americans. Four teams had multiple picks and in total 64 players signed to play in college.

With so much turnover, will there be growing pains for some of the usual top teams? In an early game of the year candidate, state Class B state finalist Victor survived against Pittsford 7-6 in both teams’ season opener.

Defending Class A sectional champions Penfield’s offense shined bright in its season opener and a number of teams in Class D seem ready to challenge Penn Yan.
