Police: Romulus resident charged with DWI after crash in Seneca County

A weekend crash resulted in DWI charges for a Romulus resident.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Sunday around 2:30 a.m. deputies charged Robert W. Whitley Jr., 41, with driving while intoxicated, driving with a BAC over 0.08%, and failure to keep right.

Deputies say the arrest stems from a property damage accident that happened at the intersection of East Lake Road and Yale Farm Road.

Deputies say Whitley was traveling south on East Lake Road when he crossed the double-solid yellow lines, drove through a residential yard, and struck a mailbox.

While investigating the accident, deputies found Whitley to be intoxicated.

No injuries were reported, but the vehicle sustained heavy damage. Deputies say it was towed from the scene.

After being processed, Whitley was released on appearance tickets and will answer the charges in Varick Town Court.
