The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Saturday at approximately 4 p.m. deputies responded to State Route 89 in the Town of Covert for a vehicle that had reportedly crashed into multiple objects before coming to a stop – trapping the occupants.
Deputies arrived and spoke with the occupants, identified as Nadine Everton, 58, and her passenger, Kevin Everton, 64, both of Trumansburg. They complained of minor injuries, according to deputies.
They had been traveling south on State Route 89 when Everton swerved to miss a squirrel, losing control and going off the road. Her vehicle struck a DOT sign, NYSEG utility pole, and farm tractor for sale by the road.
The vehicle finally came to rest in the field.
Both were transported to Cayuga Medical Center by Trumansburg Ambulance and South Seneca Ambulance.
NYSEG also responded to the scene. The vehicle was demolished, according to deputies.
