Deputies say a Canandaigua man is dead after an overnight crash in Ontario County.
On Saturday around 12:24 a.m. first responders were called to Spangle Street in the Town of Hopewell for a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries.
Upon arrival they found a black pickup truck was traveling north on Spangle Street, which had traveled off the roadway and struck a tree head on.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to F.F. Thompson Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Deputies identified the driver as Steven J. Steurrys, 28, of Canandaigua.
The roadway was shut down for approximately two hours while crews worked the scene.
Deputies say Steurrys was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
