Four dogs saved from Newark house fire

Four dogs were rescued from a house on fire in Newark Wednesday afternoon.

Members of the Newark Fire Department responded to the home on Driving Park Avenue around 4:30 p.m.

No one was home at the time.

Firefighters were able to rescue four dogs and had the blaze extinguished after about 15 minutes, according to Newark Mayor Jonathan Taylor.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is being investigated by Newark Police and members of the Wayne County Cause and Origin Team.
