Child in stable condition after being hit by a car in Danby

State Police say a 9-year-old is in stable condition after they were struck by a vehicle in Danby Wednesday night.

The incident happened around 5:13 p.m. on Coddington Road near German Cross Road in the town of Danby.

“An investigation revealed that a woman from Brooktondale operating a 2008 Toyota Prius was traveling east on Coddington Road when she struck the 9-year-old,” State Police said in a press release. “The child was running across the street from a driveway when struck. The operator of the vehicle stopped immediately and has been cooperative with troopers.”

The child is listed in stable condition at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. Brooktondale Volunteer Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance assisted at the scene. No tickets have been issued.
