A 14-year-old Jordan-Elbridge High School student was charged Tuesday after allegedly making a terroristic threat.
The New York State Police announced in a news release Tuesday that state police in Elbridge "responded to the Jordan-Elbridge High School regarding a student who made a threat of school violence." State police said the student, whose name is not being released due to their age, was charged with making a terrorist threat, a class D felony. The student was issued a family court appearance ticket and was released to their parents, the news release said.
The Jordan-Elbridge Central School District addressed the situation through a news release on its website by district superintendent Jim Froio.
"Early this afternoon, Jordan-Elbridge High School administration was informed of an alleged threat by a student who stated that he was going to “shoot up the school.” High School administration immediately brought this student to the office for questioning. The student denied making any such statement," the news release said.
The news release said several students "informed us that the threat was made as they heard the student make the threatening comment while in class."
A threat assessment was made by law enforcement, the news release said, with the student was suspended "until he faces a formal superintendent’s hearing."
