Driver flees scene of Osborne Street crash in Auburn

The driver of a vehicle with no license plates fled the scene Tuesday evening after crashing through a private lawn in Auburn.

Osborne Street resident Brian Hockeborne said he was exiting the side door of his home when a car knocked over a small tree and smashed through his fence — losing a tire in the process.

The vehicle, a burgundy Chevrolet Impala which had no license plates, continued on briefly before coming to a stop in a small parking lot further along Osborne Street.



According to police scanner dispatches, a male driver fled the scene and was last seen on Elizabeth Street talking on a cell phone while multiple police vehicles searched the neighborhood.

Police closed off Osborne Street between Elizabeth Street and Logan Street.
