Rep. John Katko after Mueller investigation ends: ‘It’s time to move on’

With the completion of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, U.S. Rep. John Katko believes the results should be respected and House Democrats should focus on other matters.

Katko, R-Camillus, commented on Mueller’s investigation one day after Attorney General Bill Barr sent a letter to the leaders of the House and Senate judiciary committees summarizing the special counsel’s report, which was submitted on Friday.

In his letter, Barr revealed that Mueller’s investigation did not find President Donald Trump’s campaign “conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election.”

Barr also detailed Mueller’s investigation into whether Trump committed obstruction of justice. The special counsel’s report didn’t reach a conclusion on whether the president’s actions were obstruction of justice. Barr’s letter notes that the document states “while this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.”
