The Syracuse (20-14, 10-8 ACC) basketball team was edged by Baylor (20-13, 10-8 Big 12), 78-69, Thursday evening in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, drawing the 2019 season to a close. The 20 wins mark the fifth 20+ win season in the last seven years for the Orange.
Elijah Hughes had a career night with a personal-best 25 points on a 7-of-15 shooting performance. The redshirt junior had six 3-pointers. Tyus Battle and Oshae Brissett tacked on double-digit performances with 16 and 14 points, respectively. The trio of Hughes, Battle and Brissett accounted for 55 of the Orange’s 69 points.
