NWS: Snow, gusty winds end this morning, big warm-up for Sunday

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of the region that expires at 8 am on Saturday morning..

The Winter Weather Advisory is active for Seneca, Wayne, Cayuga, and Tompkins counties. Winter Storm Warnings are active for counties east of those in the advised area.

Most of the region has experienced a total of 3 to 6 inches of accumulation along with gusty winds. On Saturday morning, travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significant reduce visibility, according to the National Weather Service.

Once the snow ends, expect gradual clearing through the day Saturday and then a big change for Sunday which is expected to bring high temperatures in the upper 50’s with plenty of sun.

Even those not in the advised or warned areas will see snowfall over that 24 hour period. While it won’t be as heavy or intense – expect challenged travel through Saturday morning.
