With incumbent Town Supervisor Walt Prouty not seeking re-election, Town Board member Joseph Borst has made known his interest in the position.
Borst announced Monday that he is circulating petitions for the Republican, Conservative and Independence party lines to run for supervisor.
Borst, 45, lives at 7169 Route 89 and is in his third, four-year term on the Town Board. He is owner and operator of Borst and Sons Auto Repair in Covert. He and his wife, Elizabeth, have four sons.
“I’m tremendously proud of my efforts as a Councilman,” Borst said in his written statement. “The town of Ovid is a special place and our incredible residents deserve and demand leadership that is accessible, responsive and engaged.”
The party petitions must contain the proper number of valid voter signatures and be submitted to the Seneca County Board of Elections between April 1 and April 4.
