State Sen. Bob Antonacci wants victims of sexual harassment to know there are resources available to assist with filing complaints and reporting misconduct. He also wants them to know that if no action is taken on their complaint, they can call his office.
Antonacci's office on Monday distributed a list of organizations, such as the Legal Momentum Equality Works Program and Safe Horizon Crime Victims' Hotline, that can assist victims with sexual harassment complaints.
The release from Antonacci's office was in response to two recent stories about sexual harassment at the state Office for People with Developmental Disabilities.
The Associated Press reported earlier this month that three women complained about a male employee's conduct, but nothing was done until the man grabbed one of them and threatened to rape her.
Last week, an Albany Times-Union story revealed that Jay Kiyonaga, the former No. 2 official at the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, is earning $136,000 despite being fired for sexual harassment in 2018.
Kiyonaga was able to return to a job he held at a separate agency. While he's suspended, he continues to collect a salary.
