Driver charged with kicking deputies during arrest along SR 332 in Canandaigua

Deputies arrested a 22-year-old Rochester resident following a traffic stop, which led to charges related to obstruction and resisting arrest.

Kiona L. Pope, 22, of Rochester was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, suspended registration, obstruction governmental administration, resisting arrest, and harassment after a traffic stop on State Route 332 in the Town of Canandaigua.

Pope was operating a vehicle, which had a suspended registration. She was also operating without insurance and a valid licensed, according to deputies.

Deputies say she refused to get out of the vehicle and was ultimately taken into custody on a number of charges. She also resisted as deputies attempted to complete the arrest.

During the incident, one deputy was kicked by Pope, and another’s hand was pinned against the door of the vehicle. Neither deputy suffered injuries.

She was transported to the Ontario County Jail pending arraignment. The charges will be answered at a later date.
