An Auburn man on parole for past drug-related convictions now faces new drug charges, police reported.
Over the summer, Steven R. Mayer, 40, sold more than 1 ounce of marijuana to someone — not knowing the person was an undercover officer and the sale was part of a Finger Lakes Drug Task Force investigation, the Auburn Police Department said Wednesday.
After the sale, a search warrant was issued for Mayer, of 30 Westlake Ave. Police arrested Mayer Tuesday, stopping him in a vehicle that was under surveillance.
Mayer was found in possession of 6.5 ounces of marijuana and about $4,000 at the time of his arrest, police said. He was also in possession of other substances, but police are waiting on lab results to identify the substances, and additional charges may follow.
