Public invited to derelict properties meeting in Wayne

A second public meeting to reveal the results of the Wayne County Derelict Properties Strategy project will be held at the Cornell Cooperative Extension building, 1581 Route 88 north, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Wayne County Planning and Economic Development said those in attendance will be able to review countywide findings and recommendations as well as redevelopment concept plans for three strategic areas.

“Whether you are a resident, business owner or property owner, the county encourages and welcomes your participation,” said planner Thomas Lyon. “The plan reflects community input received at a public meeting held in June of 2018 as well as input from a public survey.”

Lyon said the Wayne County Derelict Properties Strategy has created an inventory of existing derelict properties found throughout the county, identified and prioritized the most blighted areas and developed market-driven strategies to return such properties to productive use.
