A thrilling Section V regular season ended on a high note as the Democrat and Chronicle’s top-ranked team Fairport downed No. 2 Penfield 5-4 in a back-and-forth season finale on Saturday.
However, McQuaid’s 5-4 overtime win over the Red Raiders on Wednesday proved to be the difference in playoff seeding as the Knights narrowly took the top seed for the Class A sectional tournament.
In Class B the Webster Thomas Titans clinched the top seed with a power seeding score of 122.5.
