Spam robocalls are expected to make up 46% of all phone calls by the middle of 2019, according to First Orion.
The call protection company also estimates that number will grow to over 50% by the end of the year.
April is the worst month for robocalls, with April 15th the worst day because because there is a strong connection between the deadline to file your taxes and phone scams, according to Yahoo Finance.
A recent Washington Post report said people received more than 26 billion robocalls last year. Experts say to the following tips can help avoid dangers associated with robocalls.
- Do not answer calls from unknown numbers
- Never give out personal information over the phone
- Be aware that showing a local number does not guarantee a local caller
- Register for the “Do Not Call” list on the Federal Trade Commission website
