Wayne County offices on the move as major renovations set to begin

Wayne County departments have begun moving from a building being vacated for a major renovation.

The office building is at 16 William St. and is also called Wayne County Building 4.

Karen Ambroz, director of Wayne County Real Property Tax Services, said her office is moving today to temporary quarters at 76 William St., the former Lyons Village Hall.

“Our office will probably not be able to provide much service (Tuesday),” she said by email Monday. “All computers, phones, etc. will be disconnected to move to 76 William St. Until the computers and phones are connected, there won’t be too much we will be able to do. Wednesday we will be back to full service, provided IT is able to get the computers and phones up and running.”

Meanwhile, the county Treasurer’s Office is moving out Friday, also to 76 William St., said Wayne County Treasurer Patrick Schmitt.

He said the office can accept in-person payments at 16 William St. until the close of business on Thursday, Feb. 7.

After that, all payments must be made at their temporary location at 76 William St., which county buildings and grounds crew have renovated for county offices.
