The Geneva Police Department says a comment made toward the Geneva High School was not a threat to the community.
The comment was reported on Friday, according to the District’s website.
“Per protocol, city police conducted family interviews and home searches before determining that the student was not a threat. The family willingly cooperated with the district and police throughout the process,” the District’s statement read. “Classmates reported the student after hearing him make the comment on a city school bus. School officials then contacted police, in keeping with district protocol.”
The District reports that the incident will be handled as an internal school disciplinary matter. “We would like to thank students for reporting the event, as well as police and school administrators for their thorough investigation,” the statement concluded.
Another incident earlier in the month forced students and faculty to leave the Middle and High School campus immediately after dismissal.
