Waterloo school board gets update on trap shooting club

On two occasions last year, the Board of Education was asked to consider allowing the formation of a trap shooting club at the high school.

The board will get an update on the status of that request at its Tuesday night meeting.

Teacher Casey Cowell and high school assistant principal Thomas Mitchell will give the board that update.

In September, parent and North Seneca Sportsmen’s Club member Jerry Abbott asked the board to consider forming a competitive trap shooting team. The board took no action.

In October, Cowell and Lyons Rod & Gun Club member Steve Sciarabba of Geneva made another appeal for the club, saying they had 15 students ready to sign up and adult leadership ready to step up.

The board also will receive a presentation on how technology integrates with students by technology teacher Toby Coleman.
