Firefighters are thankful for training, which allowed them to successfully deliver a baby girl in Geneva during the recent winter storm.
According to Hydrant Hose Company No. 1, the Geneva Fire Department was called to assist with a mother in labor on Sunday as ambulances were delayed to respond due to poor weather conditions.
Upon arrival, firefighters found mom in active labor and baby on its way out. “Fortunately, the GFD is trained for all types of emergencies and we’re glad to say mom and new baby girl are healthy and happy,” the fire department said in a post to Facebook celebrating the occasion.
“No matter the weather, the trained firefighters of the GFD are always ready to respond and assist the citizens of Geneva,” the department added in the post.
