Driver ticketed for having suspended license after hitting Whitman school bus

Deputies have provided an update to the crash on Thursday involving a Marcus Whitman school bus.

Around 7:20 deputies were called to the scene on Route 364. Deputies say Marjorie Albert, 53, was operating the school bus when she stopped to pick up a student.

At that time, a vehicle operated by V.C. Breckenridge, 50, of Canandaigua struck the rear of the bus. As result, one 12-year-old student suffered a head injury.

She was transported by ambulance to Thompson Hospital. The school bus was able to be driven from the scene, but the vehicle that struck it needed to be towed.

Breckenridge was issued tickets for following too close, having a suspended license, and bald tire.

The Canandaigua Fire Department and Gorham Fire Department responded to the scene as well.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
