On Monday, Ontario County Sheriff Philip Povero, who was the longest serving sheriff in Ontario County history – signed off for the last time.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office lined the entryway to thank the sheriff for his extended service.
His retirement marks the end of a 46 year career in law enforcement.
The Sheriff’s Office said the following on Facebook:
“Today we said farewell to the man who has been our leader for 28 years. Our heartfelt thanks to Sheriff Povero’s family for sharing him with us for 46 years. Tomorrow begins a new adventure for the Poveros and for all of us here at the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office with Sheriff Henderson at the helm. Our very best wishes to both as they embark on their new paths.”
