The town will be getting a large federal grant to form its first water district.
In a press release, U.S. Rep. Tom Reed said he helped secure a $684,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program. The program offers loans, grants, and lone guarantees to help create jobs and support economic development in rural communities.
“We care about ensuring our local communities have fair access to a clean and safe water supply,” Reed said. “We are thrilled to be able to secure this grant for the town of Torrey so they can build a new water district and boost jobs in our community.”
