Man arrested on felony charges after incident at homeless camp in Ithaca

On Saturday at approximately 9:25 pm police responded to a homeless encampment known as ‘The Jungle’ regarding the report of a shooting that had just occurred.

Officers arrived on-scene and spoke to the female complainant, who advised that she and a subject – later identified as Terrance Jones, had gotten into an argument and that during the argument – he threatened to stab her.

She advised that he also discharged a shotgun during the argument. Police say they learned that Jones fled the scene prior to police arrival.

On Sunday around 2:58 am Jones was located inside a grocery store on south Meadow Street and secured by police.

He was later arraigned and charged with felony burglary, felony weapon possession, and menacing charges.

Jones was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.
