Sheriff: Seneca Falls man charged with digital fraud, faces 12 felony counts

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Seneca Falls man following an investigation into stolen computer data.

On August 8th 33-year-old Steven L. Cooley was arrested by deputies following an investigation of a complaint, where it was alleged that he possessed computer related data that he did not have permission to access.

Following the investigation Cooley was charged with one count of criminal possession of computer related material, one count of computer trespass, 10 counts of unlawful duplication of computer related materials – as well as a number of other misdemeanor charges.



The 12 core charges filed against Cooley are felonies, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Cooley was also charged with multiple traffic offenses due to his alleged reckless operation of a motor vehicle within the Town of Seneca Falls prior to being taken into custody.

Following arraignment Cooley was remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to answer the charges in Seneca Falls Town Court.
