The Batavia Muckdogs got the potential tying and winning runs on base in the bottom of the ninth, but David Smith recorded a strikeout to preserve the Auburn Doubledays’ 4-3 win at Dwyer Stadium Thursday.
Jamori Blash put the Doubledays on the board first with a solo homer in the second inning, and Auburn added three more runs in the sixth on a single by Israel Pineda, a double by Jacob Rhinesmith and a triple by Pablo O’Connor in consecutive at-bats.
