Assemblyman Finch endorses Molinaro for NY governor

Two months after Assemblyman Gary Finch announced his support for state Sen. John DeFrancisco in the race for governor, he is now endorsing the likely Republican gubernatorial nominee.

Finch, R-Springport, backed Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro for governor. He made the announcement in a news release Monday.

The two men are former state Assembly colleagues. Before being elected county executive, Molinaro served in the Assembly from 2007 to 2012.

"Marc has a brilliant mind and is a gifted communicator," Finch said. "He is a man of high integrity … His energetic style, inclusive message and wealth of experience will bring a tremendous change to the governor's mansion."

Molinaro is one of three Republican candidates in the race for governor. DeFrancisco, R-DeWitt, and attorney Joe Holland are also seeking the GOP nomination.
