Syracuse jumped all over Colgate early, getting out to a 6-0 lead, and never looking back for the Orange (8-6) to down the Raiders (7-8) on Saturday, 17-5 in the regular season finale.
Syracuse will now await its fate heading into the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on Sunday at 9 p.m. on ESPNU. The Orange head into the NCAA Tournament as the only team in the nation currently with two top-five RPI wins and the No. 3 strength of schedule, according to LaxPower’s unofficial metrics.
In Saturday’s contest, Brendan Bomberry scored four times, leading the man-up unit to a 3-for-4 day, while Jamie Trimboli notched three goals of his own to ignite the Syracuse offense. Dom Madonna was stellar in net, stopping six shots and allowing just five goals. Nate Solomon (2-2), Stephen Rehfuss (0-3), and Jacob Buttermore (3-0) also recorded multi-point efforts.
