New York State’s illegal tourism signs might not be coming down yet after all.
Despite a Newsday report claiming the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) will take down the “I Love New York” signs in April, a DOT spokesperson told the Albany Times Union they have no immediate plans to take down signs.
The state agency is awaiting the resolution of ongoing conversations with the Federal Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Last month, the New York State leaders agreed to remove the signs after the federal government threatened to withhold $14 million in funding.
