Ovid man gets 15 years on child porn charges

An Ovid man convicted on child pornography charges was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison.

Christopher Eberhardt, 34, was sentenced to 15 years in prison and 15 years of parole after he was convicted in a federal jury trial of distribution, receipt and possession of child pornography.

Eberhardt’s sentencing was announced in a press release by James Kennedy Jr., U.S. Attorney for the Western District of New York.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kyle Rossi and Craig Gestring, who prosecuted the case, said Eberhardt was part of a network of more than 70 people engaged in the trading of child pornography. The network was first discovered by special agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations working in Hartford, Conn.
